However, he said, the typhoon was too strong, so up to December 5, in Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu, there were 34 people killed, seven missing, 241 wounded, nearly 45,000 houses collapsed or with roofs swept away, 24 boats sunk or out of communication, and 133 kindergartens, schools, markets, and clinics damaged.

PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng acknowledged the province’s efforts but he said that such heavy human and material damage should had been lesser. “Each of you must self-criticize seriously to draw a lesson from your experience of preventing Typhoon No. 9” said the PM. He directed that, on December 6 and 7, the provincial authority must mobilize rescue forces to search for missing people. He told them to give families with collapsed houses each VND5 million and those with swept-roof houses each VND2 million to rebuild or re-roof their shelters. The PM requested the provincial leaders to take drastic measures to stabilize the market and prevent inflation of necessities and building materials after the disaster.

In the morning of December 6, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng visited and gave presents to some families victimized by the typhoon in Vũng Tàu City and Long Điền District.
