In the reception, the PM suggested that, in the near future, the two sides should accelerate the construction of the economic corridor Kunming–Lào Cai–Hanoi-Hải Phòng under the project  “Two corridors, one economic belt”. He asked Yunnan Province and four border provinces of Vietnam (Lào Cai, Hà Giang, Lai Châu, and Điện Biên) to found a “joint working committee” to direct and operate the existing regimes between these five provinces as well as deal with all issues arisen in their inter-provincial cooperation.

Governor Qin Guangrong put forth some proposals to cement the friendship and cooperation between Yunnan and Vietnam’s localities in infrastructure building, transport, post, monetary activities and tourism. The guest showed his hope that the two sides can further promote major economic projects, contributing to the founding of the Kunming-Hanoi economic corridor.

On the same day, Deputy PM, Foreign Minister Phạm Gia Khiêm received Governor Qin Guangrong and his entourage.

Deputy PM Phạm Gia Khiêm proposed that the two sides will try best to finish the demarcation and border marker planting work between Vietnam and Yunnan Province in particular and between Vietnam and China in general in 2008. The host also wanted to promote tourist cooperation between Yunnan and Vietnam’s localities, especially facilitating entry/exit procedures for tourists. The two sides should closely collaborate each other in exploiting the Mekong and Red Rivers for development purposes in a sustainable way, he said.

After the reception, Deputy PM Phạm Gia Khiêm and Governor Qin Guangrong witnessed the symbolic ceremony of offering 50 heavy agro-trucks worth of RMB 7 million to the Vietnamese Government by Yunnan Province.

During his stay in Vietnam, Governor Qin Guangrong had working sessions with the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Hanoi City People’s Committee, and Quảng Ninh Province People’s Committee to discuss bilateral cooperation in trade, industry, transport and tourism.

A seminar was also held in Hanoi on opportunities of investment and trade cooperation between Yunnan Province and Vietnamese localities and enterprises.
