PM Pham Minh Chinh arrives in Jakarta for ASEAN Leaders’ Meeting

VGP – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has arrived at the Soekarno-Hatta international airport in Jakarta, Indonesia where he will attend the ASEAN Leaders’ Meeting and meet bilaterally with regional leaders.

He is accompanied by Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Tran Van Son, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung, Vice Chairman of the Government Office Nguyen Xuan Thanh, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Quoc Phuong, Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Pham Vinh Quang, and Permanent Representative of Viet Nam to ASEAN Nguyen Hai Bang.

During his tour, Pham is expected to meet with Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Brunei Darussalam’s King Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, Lao Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh.

A tripartite meeting for Prime Ministers of Viet Nam, Laos, and Cambodia will also be organized on the sidelines of the ASEAN Leaders’ Meeting.

This is Pham’s first foreign tour since he was confirmed Prime Minister of Viet Nam on April 5, 2021.

The tour aims to affirm Viet Nam’s priority to cement and consolidate solidarity and mutual assistance with other ASEAN member States, contributing to raising the bloc’s centrality and position in addressing emerging challenges, thus creating a peaceful environment conducive to sustainable development in each member country and in the region as well./.
