PM Phuc participates in virtual NAM Summit on COVID-19

VGP - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc is attending the virtual Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) to enhance coordination of the member states in their fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

On the initiative of President of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the NAM Ilham Aliyev, the Summit under the motto "United against COVID-19" will focus on the battle against the pandemic.

The NAM Chairmanship has passed to Azerbaijan at the 18th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the NAM member countries which was held in Azerbaijan on October 25-26, 2019. Azerbaijan will chair the organization during 2019-2022.

The summit draws the participation of heads of state and government of more than 40 member states, the UN Secretary-General, President of the UN General Assembly, President of the African Union, WHO Director-General and High Representative of the European Union.

According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Health, as many as 3,581,870 have been infected with the virus, of whom 248,555 have died across the world.

In Viet Nam, 271 infection cases have been confirmed so far, including 131 imported cases. The number of recovered cases rose to 221 as of 6pm on Monday./.
