Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang released the news at a press briefing in Ha Noi on Thursday.

The Commemorative Summit will take place in Busan, Korea from November 25 to 26 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the dialogue partnership between ASEAN and the RoK. It will be the biggest international conference the ROK hosts under the Moon Jae-in administration.

This will be the third commemorative summit hosted by the RoK with ASEAN. The previous ones took place in Jeju and Busan in 2009 and 2014, respectively.

This year’s summit will provide an opportunity for leaders of ASEAN and the RoK to review the partnership and shape cooperation orientations for the next decades, Hang said.

Meanwhile, the first Mekong-RoK Summit will take place in conjunction with the Commemorative Summit on November 27.

The Mekong-RoK Summit represents the ever-expanding cooperation between the Mekong region grouping Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam, and the RoK.

This summit will serve as an opportunity to evaluate the 10 years of Mekong-Korea relations and discuss ways for future cooperation so that the Miracle on the Han River can lead to the Miracle on the Mekong River.

It will also pave the way for mutual growth by enhancing concrete collaboration that meets local needs and strengthening the capacity of the Mekong countries.

As part of his official visit to the RoK, PM Phuc is expected to hold talks with President Moon Je-in and meet with the Korean Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon.
