PM agrees on express railway between Hanoi and HCMC

VNGOVNet – Following the proposal of the Vietnam Railways Corporation (VRC) and recommendations from the Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Prime Minister has approved a project to build an express railway between Hanoi and Hồ Chí Minh City and assigned the VRC to carry it out as a project investor.

He asked that the Ministry of Transport will direct the investor in collaboration with the relevant agencies to work with Japanese partners for an investment report of the project./.

The 1,630-km express rail linking between Hanoi-Hồ Chí Minh City is estimated to cost US$ 33 billion, specifically reserved for passenger trains speeding in the range of 300-350 km/h and expected to reduce travel time between Hanoi and HCM City to less than ten hours.
