The Government chief expressed the hope on February 18 in Ha Noi while attending a launching ceremony of the 2019 Spring tree planting festival.

The Government chief recalled the teaching of President Ho Chi Minh and the 50th anniversary of tree planting festival.

According to PM Phuc, the Government has been working with localities on afforestation and forest protection with a view to attaining a forest coverage of at least 42% by 2020 and making Viet Nam  a leading center of famous furniture exports.

In Ha Noi, the tree planting festival has drawn the whole political system. PM Phuc acknowledged and praised the outcomes of Ha Noi’s plan to plant one million trees.

So far, green trees were planted in a large number of roads, serving to improve the environment. Seven modern parks were built. Over 144 playgrounds and small gardens were upgraded.

On this occasion, PM Phuc tasked the local authorities to disseminate the purposes and meanings of the festival; and respond to the festival with significant action.

In 2019, the city targets to plant 400,000 trees./.
