PM calls for stronger economic ties between VN and Japan

VGP – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has called for the enhanced economic relations between Viet Nam and Japan, while expressing his wish that Japan will continue to provide official development assistane (ODA) for Viet Nam, especially in key and large-scale infrastructure projects, training high-quality human resources, and climate change adaptation.

The PM made the remarks during a reception for a research team of the Japanese House of Representatives, headed by Kawamura Takeo, Chairman of the House’s Committee on Budget, in Ha Noi on August 22.

He asked the Japanese side to further support and facilitate Japanese firms’ investment into Viet Nam, as well as strengthening bilateral cooperation in labor, education, and human resource training, including vocational training and high-quality human resource training.

PM Phuc stated that the exchange between parliamentarians and friendship parliamentarians’ groups of the two countries has been growing strongly and achieved significant congress over the past few years. The two sides have been organizing a wide range of activities to mark the 45th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties so far this year, contributing to consolidating mutual understanding, political trust, economic cooperation and people-to-people exchange.

Hailing Japan as Viet Nam’s leading economic partner, the Government leader expressed his gratitude to Japan for providing ODA for Viet Nam during the past 26 years, which, he said, has contributed significantly to the cause of socio-economic development, poverty reduction, and infrastructure improvement in Viet Nam.

He said that Japanese investors in Viet Nam have achieved numerous success and are satisfied with the business climate in the country.

Kawamura Takeo stated that he pays regular attention to accelerating the friendly relations and cooperations with Viet Nam, calling on PM Phuc to support Japanese firms to do favorable business in Viet Nam.

The Japanese official added that he and the Japanese PM always favors the facilitation of close ties with Viet Nam in bilateral and multilateral issues.

Concerning the Viet Nam-Japan University project, Takeo highly appreciated the favorable conditions created by the Vietnamese Government and the PM for the university’s operations, noting that Japan wants to receive more interns from Viet Nam.

Agreeing with the guest’ opinions, PM Phuc applauded the role played by the Japanese parliament as a whole, and the House of Representatives in particular, in strengthening relations between the two countries.
