PM calls on int’l community to voice support for VN

The Government chief especially highlighted that the situation in the East Sea is very serious due to China’s illegal installation of the drilling rig Haiyang Shiyou 981 in Viet Nam’s waters.
The China’s move has seriously violated international law, the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea, directly threatening peace, stability, security and safety of navigation in the East Sea.
Viet Nam has exercised utmost restraint, showed every gesture of goodwill and exhausted all dialogue channels to lodge protests and demands China withdraw its oil rig as well as vessels from Viet Nam’s waters. However, the response from China has been an increase of force and acts of intimidation and violation, and repeated slanders to blame on Viet Nam.
PM Dung affirmed that Viet Nam will resolutely defend its sovereignty and waters with peaceful measures in accordance with international law.
PM Dung thanked and called on ASEAN, other countries and friends around the world to continue their support for Viet Nam to protect its national sovereignty and legitimate interests in line with international law.
He underlined the importance of solidarity and cooperation at global scale to prevent acts of international law violation./.
