Deputy PMs Vuong Dinh Hue and Trinh Dinh Dung, and about 600 representatives from ministries, sectors, localities, international and socio-political organizations, and the business community attended the event.

The event offers a platform to review and evaluate the situation of investment in agriculture over the past few years, while working out effective solutions to promote enterprises’ investment in agriculture in the time ahead.

At the conference, ministers and Government members will hold dialogue with companies, associations, and experts on many issues, especially agricultural enterprises, a key force in accelerating the development of agricultural production.

As of June 2018, Viet Nam saw around 49,600 companies having invested in the field of agriculture, accounting for 8% of the total number of companies operating across the country.

The businesses investing in agriculture created more than 4.5 million jobs, making up 32.5% of the total number of their employees.

The agricultural investors have worked to transform the production models and promote links of agricultural value chains, while contributing significantly to exports and the building of Vietnamese brands in the international market. However, this force is facing multiple risks and difficulties, such as disasters, limited farmland fund, and administrative procedures.

After the conference, the PM plans to issue a directive on policies to facilitate businesses’ investment in agriculture.
