PM figures out post-Tết key tasks

Macro-economic stability and inflation curbing are mong top priorities

Accordingly, the following tasks must be focussed on:

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will be responsible for directing the organization of festivals in a pratical and healthy way to promote the fine traditions and national cultural values of the festivals.

The Cabinet members and Chairmen of local People’s Committees are requested to attend festivals only in case of necessity.

The Ministry of Public Security and Ministry of Transport are assiged to take measures to mitigate traffic accidents and jams.

PM Dũng also asked the Ministry of Public Security to take strong measures to prevent crimes and social evils in post-lunar new year’s time, strictly punish those carrying out reactionary and anti-politic activities, and publicize these cases.

Ministries, sectors and localities should coordinately provide between-crop assistance to poor people, making sure that the assistance comes to right beneficiaries.

The Government chief urged the Ministry of Industry and Trade to keep the trade deficit under 18% of the total export value this year.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment will be responsible for attracting more foreign investment on key projects like supporting industries and high tech fields.

Regarding interest rates, the Government chief asked the State Bank of Việt Nam to step by step reduce the rates propriately, and quickly report to the PM the monetary policy designed for 2011.

The Ministry of Finance will kick off the implementation of the roadmap for price adjustment on electricity, coal and petrol based on the market rules and attached assistance to the vulnerable groups.

The Ministry of Industry and trade will take prime responsibility to finalize the plan on power price and submit it to the PM for approval, so that the plan would be effective by March this year.
