Phuc said more than 300 health workers have been sent to the central province of Quang Nam while hundreds of students have been mobilized to join the Covid-19 fight in Quang Nam and Da Nang.

Localities, especially Ha Noi and Da Nang, have quickly kicked off massive Covid-19 testing to detect infections and isolate those who come in close contact with the confirmed patients, PM Phuc added.

He asked for sufficient supply of medical equipment for front liners, especially health workers, military and police forces to prevent cross-infections among them.

Factories and production facilities need to work out their safety norms while hospitals must be serious in conducting medical surveillance and preventive measures, the Government chief stressed.

He also urged the health sector to continue accelerating research of vaccines and medicines while improving treatment protocol.

The sector is also tasked to ensure that health workers at all medical establishments are aware of the standard procedures for handling suspected cases of Covid-19 as 20  health workers have contracted the virus in the third phase of Covid-19 fight.

As of 6:10pm on Wednesday, Viet Nam confirmed 880 Covid-19 patients, including 400 recovered cases and 17 fatalities.

Of the patient tally, 419 are linked to the Covid-19 hot spot in Da Nang City./.
