PM inspects southern flood-ravaged areas

VGP – Prime Minister Nguyễn Tấn Dũng on October 12 visited flooded areas in the southern provinces of Long An, Đồng Tháp and An Giang which are suffering from severe flooding.

The Government chief hailed the endeavor of the local authorities in coping with floods and mitigating the consequences of the disaster.

Prime Minister Dũng asked the local authorities to ensure safety for those living in the affected areas especially children, as well as provision of healthcare services, education quality, protection of crops and rice fields, and reproduction in the post-flood period.

The localities were requested to prepare for planning resettlement areas and production sites for their people.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development was assigned to examine the water supply and drainage system in the Đồng Tháp Mười (Plain of Reed) marsh and the Long Xuyên Quadrangle./.
