Dam said that the Government chief ordered inferior levels to demonstrate the greatest resolve to contain the epidemic and continue strict control of the epidemic-hit areas in a bid to prevent the spread of the epidemic.

Dam, who is head of the steering committee, said the epidemic would continue complicated developments but Viet Nam has controlled it well.

As of Wednesday morning, 44,793 people have contracted the virus and the death toll rose to 1,112, the Ministry of Health said.

In Viet Nam, the number of infection case increased to 15, and six of them have been cleared of the virus and discharged from hospital. Ten out of the confirmed patients are from the northern province of Vinh Phuc.

In addition, the health sector has isolated and closely monitored 97 people suspected of having the virus and 602 others due to close contact with the suspected ones. None of them have shown symptoms like fever or coughing, the ministry said./.
