PM meets with WEF Chairman

VGP – PM Nguyen Tan Dung on May 22 met with Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Klaus Schwab on the sideline of the WEF on East Asia.

Praising the forum theme “Leveraging Growth for Equitable Progress”, PM Dung asserted that domestic reform in combination with international integration has proved to be effective to creating forces for sustainable and fast development.

Viet Nam is completing its mechanisms and transforming its growth model to establish an economy with high competitiveness closely tied with social fairness and progress, said the PM.

Regarding to complex situations in the East Sea, PM Dung affirmed that there is no development without peace and stability, adding that Viet Nam hopes the WEF will continue to promote a peaceful, stable, cooperative and prosperous Asia-Pacific.

Mr. Klaus Schwab expressed his concerns about issues in the East Sea, expecting that the forum will be a political dialogue channel to discuss these matters.

He highly valued Viet Nam's initiatives on the public-private partnership to support the building of the ASEAN Economic Community and confirmed that the WEF will cooperate with Viet Nam to launch several projects in agriculture and customs in the future.
