The Government chief made the remark during his working session with the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) in Hanoi on Monday.

He asked VUFO to better perform its missions in a bid to create a peaceful environment and stability for the national development and defense.

VUFO suggested the Government issue legal documents on coordination mechanism between State diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy to improve the efficiency of the country's external relations.

Currently, VUFO has 97 members, including 58 central-level associations and 39 local-level unions, said VUFO President Vu Xuan Hong.

He added that VUFO has established an international partnership network, including thousands of organizations and individuals all over the world.

The Union has actively mobilized aid from non-governmental organizations. From 1992, some US $3 billion of the mobilized funding has been disbursed, focusing on overcoming war legacy, poverty reduction, healthcare infrastructure development, environmental protection, urgent relief among others.
