According
to Minster Khristenko, in 2009, despite difficulties caused by the global
economic recession, investment and trade between Việt Nam and Russia have continued to increase,
especially in energy, petroleum, high technologies, and mechanical
manufacturing.
|
The trade turnover between Việt Nam and Russia increased from US $350-400
million in the 1990s to over US $1.6 billion in 2008, up around 15% per year
on average. Việt Nam mainly
exports marine products, garments, rubber, footwear to Russia and import coal, steel, fertilizers
and gasoline.
Russia has
poured US $302.9 million in 55 projects, ranking the 23rd among 81 foreign investors
in Việt Nam.
In November 2007, for the
first time, nearly 100 leading Russian corporations paid a survey tour to Việt
Nam
to seek for business opportunities here.
Petroleum and energy remain traditional fields of fruitful cooperation between
the two countries. Russia
and Việt Nam
are shaking hands in many petroleum projects not only in their respective markets
but also in third countries.
