The RoK’s Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the staff working at the Vietnamese Embassy in the RoK and the Overseas Vietnamese joined the official welcoming ceremony.

As scheduled, the PM will hold talks and meet the RoK’s senior leaders and meet the Mayor of Seoul.

He will participate in the Viet Nam-RoK Business Forum, a seminar with the RoK’s leading corporations, receive the President of Viet Nam-RoK Friendship Association and visit the Embassy of Viet Nam in the RoK.

PM Phuc’s official visit to the RoK is held in the context of fruitful developments in the two nations’ relationship. Viet Nam regards the RoK as its top partner in all fields and the RoK also considers Viet Nam as the key partner in its New Southern Policy.

The RoK has ranked first in investment, second in Official Development Assistance (ODA) and third in trade value with Viet Nam. The bilateral trade turnover reached US$66 billion in 2018, making 40% of the trade value between the RoK and ASEAN.

The RoK has been the second largest labor export market of Viet Nam. According to the Korean Immigration Office, as of June 2019, 216,000 Vietnamese are living in the RoK while more than 150,000 Koreans are recorded in Viet Nam.

The Vietnamese leader’s official visit to the RoK is expected to bring Viet Nam-RoK relationship to the next level.
