The Government chief made the point on October 29 in Ha Noi at the Cabinet's regular meeting.

Drastic measures

According to PM Dung, the macro-economic performance progressed positively in almost all fields.

In the remaining two months, PM Dung asked for close supervision in response to domestic and international markets; maintain macro-economic stability; improve the business environment; and raise competitiveness.

PM Dung also noted the importane of regulating the monetary policy in a flexible manner; stabilizing exchange rates; and properly handling non-performing loans.

Other tasks included trade promotion, building of Vietnamese brands, prevention of trade frauds, and streamlining of administrative procedures.

Maintaining major balance

At the meeting, the Cabinet also listened to and gave comments on key contents.

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) reported that total budget collection jumped 7% in which local budget collection expanded while central budget collection dropped around VND 31,000 billion. The MoF attributed the decline to lower oil prices and corporate income tax cuts. The PM tasked competent agencies to ensure budget balance for 2015.

The Government also approved of the plan for upcoming Lunar New Year holiday from February 6 to Feburary 14, 2016. Thus, public servants and workers will have nine days off.

Regarding the report of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs, Government members agreed with the plan on poverty line of VND 700,000 per person per month in rural areas and VND 900,000 per person per month in urban areas. Thus, multi-dimensional poverty rate was estimated at 12% and nearly-poor household rate 6%./.
