Phuc welcomed the business giant’s decision on building the Samsung Research and Development Center in Ha Noi right after his meeting with Vice Chairman of Samsung Group in November last year.

The Government chief said he had tasked the Ministry of Planning and Investment to coordinate with Ha Noi Municipal People Committee and relevant agencies to help Samsung deploy the aforesaid project.

Phuc also urged Samsung to continue practical training assistance and technological transfer to Vietnamese auxiliary industry enterprises, particularly small and medium-sized ones, so that they could provide materials and spare parts to the group.

He took the occasion to highlight that the relationship between Viet Nam and the Republic of Korea is advancing across fields, especially the RoK has sustained its position as one of the top foreign investors in Viet Nam.

For his side, Choi said Samsung Viet Nam has made efforts in fulfilling set targets to maintain its growth in Viet Nam.

He expressed thanks to the assistance of the Vietnamese Government and suggested the Vietnamese ministries, agencies and local authorities of Bac Ninh province create favorable conditions for the group, especially the Samsung Display Viet Nam, to further contribute to Viet Nam’s socio-economic development.

Samsung Electronics posted 74 trillion won (US$65.7 billion) in sales in Viet Nam in 2018, accounting for 28% of the Southeast Asian country's gross domestic product (GDP). The sales figure in Viet Nam amounted to 30% of the Korean tech giant's total sales in 2018./.
