Partnership for Development to be built between VN, Denmark

VGP – In their talks this morning in Copenhagen, Vietnamese PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng and Danish PM Lars Lokke Rasmussen agreed to promote the bilateral ties to a “Partnership for Development” on the basis of long-term stability and mutual benefits.

In the spirit of frankness, mutual trust and understanding, the two leaders thoroughly discussed specific directions and measures to enhance and consolidate the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation in the time to come, particularly in the fields of trade, investment, development and education. They also exchanged a wide range of regional and international issues of common concern.

PM Dũng briefed the host PM about the achievements gained by Việt Nam during the past 20 years of renovation,  noticeably those in the areas of economic, foreign investment, and social security in the context of the global financial crisis.

The Vietnamese Government chief took this occasion to extend his gratitude to the PM Government and people of Denmark for their valuable support and assistance to Việt Nam both in the past and the current cause of national construction as well

PM Lars Lokke Rasmussen expressed his deep impression on Việt Nam’s successes in poverty reduction, education, healthcare, and global economic integration.

The host leader said that Denmark would continue supporting Việt Nam’s  on-going renovation process and provide the Southeast Asian country with greater official development aid to deal with adverse consequences of the global climate change and improve justice capacity.

The two leaders agreed to lift the bilateral ties to a “Partnership for Development” on the basis of long-term stability and mutual benefits.

The two sides will boost the exchange of high-ranking delegations with an aim of consolidating mutual understanding and trust to pave the way for closer and broader cooperation in all fields.

Economics, as the two leaders said, will be prioritized to raise the two-way trade turnover to US $1 billion and obtain the same figure for Denmark’s investment capital in Việt Nam in the coming years through creating more favorable conditions for the two sides’ business communities.

PM Dũng reiterated that Việt Nam will speed up economic reform, fulfill its WTO commitments, and lay red carpet to Danish investors in seaport, maritime service, clean technology projects.

In response, Denmark committed to facilitating Vietnamese exports to European countries through the Danish gates.

PM Dũng and his counterpart Lars Lokke Rasmussen highlighted the importance of education cooperation, applauding the signing of a Letter of Intention on cooperation between the two education ministries.

They were unanimous in fostering mutual assistance and collaboration on multi-lateral forums and organizations like ASEAN and EU.
