In his opening speech, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong suggested some major topics for discussions.

The first important issue to be analyzed and talked of during the Central Committee’s 6th session will be socio-economic situation in 2012 and development plan in 2013.

According to General Secretary Trong, it is necessary to point out both achievements and shortcomings while making scientific and comprehensive socio-economic predictions which should be associated to the pre-set goals, especially curbing inflation, stabilizing macro-economy, guaranteeing social welfare, maintaining reasonable growth rate and creating foundations for sustainable and fast development.

He also urged the Committee members to thoroughly clarify the need of continuing the reorganization of State-owned enterprises.

The Central Committee, noted Mr. Trong, should reach a resolution which will direct the amendment of the Land Law.

Secondly, the Central Committee will discuss on education-training and science-technology development, which are always considered as top prioritized policies and important driving forces for national socio-economic development.

Thirdly, the Party’s elite leaders will spend time on issues related to Party building.

Other noticeable topics are the re-establishment of the Party’s Central Economic Committee and the nomination of candidates for major posts in the Party and State apparatus during the term 2016-2021.

However, as revealed by General Secretary Trong, this Central Committee session will mainly raise opinions for a strategic-level personnel planning scheme.

In his speech, Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized that all the issues to be discussed and decided during the session are crucial and complicated. Therefore, the General Secretary expected that the Central Committee will churn out sound decisions at the end of this session in order to meet the requirements of national industrialization and modernization.
