Party Central Committee debates socio-economic performance

VGP – Party General Secretary, State President Nguyen Phu Trong proposed the Party Central Committee make subjective, scientific, and accurate assessments of the fulfillment of the five-year and ten-year socio-economic development norms.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the 11th plenum of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee (CPVCC), the Party chief said that the Economic and Social Sub-committee has proactively given comments on a draft report on the implementation of the 2011-2020 socio-economic development strategy and the 2016-2020 socio-economic development plan, socio-economic development strategy in the 2021-2030 period with a vision towards 2045, socio-economic development orientations and tasks in the 2021-2025 period. 

The draft report was researched in 42 thematic groups and received domestic and foreign comments. Especially, seven conferences were held to collect feedback of 63 local leaders, former leaders, experts and scientists. 

The Part chief proposed the Party Central Committee make subjective, scientific, and accurate assessments of the fulfillment of the five-year and ten-year socio-economic development norms andclearly defined national status, momentum, and resources before implementing the new plan and strategy. 

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong noted that 2020 is the last year of the 12th tenure, when Party organizations at all levels will hold congresses in preparation for the 13th National Congress of the Party. Therefore, the 11th session of the 12th Party Central Committee is important as it will provide leadership and instruction for the implementation of tasks in 2019-2020 and the organization of all-level Party congresses.     

The Party leader required the Party Central Committee members and other participants at the 11th plenum to discuss the draft reports thoroughly and pool their ideas to perfect the documents and make decisions on important issues./.
