Party, State leaders pay homage to ‘great friend of Viet Nam’

VGP - On the morning of May 15, Politburo member and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh led a high-ranking delegation of the Party, State and Fatherland Front of Viet Nam to pay tribute to General Sisavath Keobounphanh, former Politburo member, Prime Minister and Chairman of the Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC) Central Committee, and also a ‘great friend of Viet Nam’, at the Lao Embassy in Ha Noi.

The tribute ceremony was also attended by Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and head of the PCC’s Organization Commission; and Tong Thi Phong, Politburo member and Standing Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly.

Writing in the funeral book, Deputy PM Binh expressed his deep sorrow for Gen. Sisavath Keobounphanh, a prominent leader, an excellent son of the Lao ethnic communities and a tenacious revolutionary soldier who had sacrificed his life for national independence, freedom and happiness of the Lao people and prosperous development of Laos.

The passing of comrade Sisavath Keobounphanh was a huge loss to the Lao Party, State, LFNC and people, and his family, he wrote, adding that Viet Nam lost a great friend and an extremely close comrade who made very important contributions to establishing, reinforcing and developing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Laos.

On behalf of the Vietnamese Party, State, Fatherland Front Central Committee and people, Deputy PM Binh extended his deepest condolences to the Lao Party, State, LFNC and people, and the family of comrade Sisavath Keobounphanh.

In the same morning, Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh led a delegation of the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry to pay homage to former Lao PM Sisavath Keobounphanh.

Deputy PM Minh sent his most sincere and deepest condolences to the Party, State and people of Laos and the family of comrade Sisavath Keobounphanh./.
