President Xi: China attaches importance to relations with VN

VGP – The Chinese Party, Government and people attach importance to the relationship with Viet Nam, willing to join hand with the Vietnamese counterparts to continuously develop the two Parties and nations’ relations.

Chinese Party General Secretary, President Xi Jinping made the above statement on August 20 while meeting Politburo member, and permanent member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee Tran Quoc Vuong in Beijing, China on the occasion of Mr. Vuong’s visit to China from August 19-23. 

At the meeting, Mr. Vuong respectively conveyed congratulations from Vietnamese high-ranking leaders on China’s successful organization of the 19th National Party Congress and the first sessions of the 13th National People’s Congress and the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

He expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party with Xi as the core, the China will gain greater achievements in the upcoming time. 

Mr. Vuong said that the relationship between the two Parties and nations have advanced positively in all fields, especially the exchange of high-ranking visits made by their Party and State leaders in 2017. 

Viet Nam spoke highly of Mr. Xi Jinping's seclection of Viet Nam as the first nation for his State visit and participation in the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting after the 19th National Party Congress, he added.

He called on the two countries to realize the perceptions reached by their high-ranking leaders, strengthen political trust, properly address sea-related issues, maintain the development trend of the bilateral relations, and ensure peace and stability in the region. 

The Chinese President highlighted the strategic significance of consolidating and strengthening the neighborliness and friendship relations between the two Parties and nations. 

The host expressed his hope that the two sides will promote high-ranking delegation exchange, political trust, strategic connectivity and people-to-people exchanges in the future. 

The same day, Mr. Vuong held talks with member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau and member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of China Central Committee Wang Huning. 

They briefed each other on the situation of their respective Parties and countries, and reviewed some of the past achievements and shortcomings in Viet Nam-China relations. 

The two officials also discussed measures to fully and seriously implement agreements and common perceptions reached by senior leaders of the two Parties and nations, and to satisfactorily settle sea-related issues, thus improving the efficiency of practical and mutually-beneficial cooperation in different fields.
