Resolution on socialist-oriented market economy under review

PM Nguyen Tan Dung chaired a meeting on reviewing the five-year implementation of the Resolution of the 10th session of the 6th Central Committee on the completion of the socialist-oriented market economy.

In recent years, the development of the market-oriented economy has associated closely with social advance and equality, poverty reduction, environmental protection, and sustainable development, contributing to realizing the goal of rich people and a strong nation with democracy, fairness and civilization.

Deputy PM welcomes Obama assistant

Evan Medeiros, Special Assistant to US President Barrack Obama, was received by Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh on July 14, during his visit that sought measures for the two countries’ future comprehensive partnership to work for peace, stability, cooperation and development in Asia-Pacific and the world.

Both sides discussed specific contents in Viet Nam-US ties and issues in Asia-Pacific.

The same day, Deputy PM Minh received Armenian Ambassador to Vietnam Raisa Vardanyan.

Chinese ships keep obstructing Vietnamese boats at rig site

Chinese ships protecting the illegally-placed oil rig Haiyang Shiyou-981 continued taking aggressive acts to hinder Vietnamese law enforcement ships that were operating in their national waters. 

Many among 108-112 Chinese ships of various kinds, including five military ships, sped towards as close as 100-200 meters and blasted sirens to obstruct Vietnamese ships from approaching the oil rig.

FDI to real estate surges 65% in H1

Foreign direct investment (FDI) earmarking for the real estate market hit US$692 million in the first half of this year, a year-on-year increase of 65%.

A number of property projects emerging in the period included Alma Resort worth US$300 million in central Khanh Hoa province invested by Israel’s Alma Group, a US$234 million urban area in the western part of West Lake and a US$200 million apartment building project of Hong Kong ’s Sun Wah Vietnam Real Estate Limited.

VN, Israel seek stronger agricultural partnership

A Viet Nam-Israel Commercial Committee made its debut aiming to support future cooperation between the two sides’ firms.

Co-hosted by the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Israeli Embassy in Viet Nam, the event brought together leading businesses from both countries operating in agriculture, including Israeli firms from the hi-tech agriculture industry.

Dong Nai’s exports to US attain US$1.5 bln

In the first half of 2014, Dong Nai Province’s export turnover to the US reached US$1.5 billion.

In June only, the province earned US$280 million from exporting garment, footwear, iron and steel, timber products, coffee and cashew to the US, up 86% compared to the previous month.

VN aims for sustainable electronics industry

An international seminar was held to discuss steps to ensure sustainability for the electronics industry in Viet Nam.

The IT industry’s gross exports hit a record high of US$20 billion in 2012, up 82% from a year earlier, and accounted for 17.5% of the country’s total exports for the year.

Bastille Day celebrated in HCM City

The Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) and the Viet Nam-France Friendship Association (VFFA) jointly hosted a reception in HCM City marking the 225thanniversary of French National Day. 

The one-month event is being held to mark the 40th anniversary since the establishment of France-Viet Nam diplomatic ties.
