State President meets outgoing Iranian Ambassador

Viet Nam wishes to further develop multi-faced cooperation with Middle East countries, particularly Iran, State President Truong Tan Sang said during his meeting with outgoing Iranian Ambassador Hossein Alvadi Behineh in Ha Noi on September 21.

He thanked Iran for its support for Viet Nam’s efforts to become the UN Human Rights Council’s member, and expressed his wish for further support for the country’s bid for the UN Security Council’s non-permanent member.

Highlighting Viet Nam’s support, the Ambassador stated Iran hopes for further assistance in creating stronger connectivity with ASEAN countries.

ADB commits to low-interest loans for VN’s infrastructure

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is willing to provide long-term and low-interest-rate loans for Viet Nam’s major socio-economic infrastructure projects, its new Country Director Eric Sidgwick assured PM Nguyen Tan Dung during a meeting in Ha Noi on September 21.

He lauded Viet Nam for its economic recovery, macro-economic stability, growing foreign exchange reserves and low inflation. The country has also taken in great amounts of foreign direct investment and restored consumer confidence.

The PM emphasized that the Government’s current measures guarantee the safe and effective use of public debt.

Mong Cai border gate economic zone plan ratified

The PM has approved an overall plan to establish the Mong Cai border gate economic zone in the northern province of Quang Ninh to become a dynamic and sustainable economic area of the province and a key economic region of the North by 2030, with a vision toward 2050.

Five development areas of the economic zone include the Mong Cai urban area, Hai Ha area, administrative and service center area, sea and islands tourism area and border trade service and new rural development area.

ASEAN VN portal launched in HN

The ASEAN Vietnam portal has been launched at three official domains aseanvietnam.vn, vietnamasean.vn and asean.vietnam.vn.

The portal is designed to provide a database featuring ASEAN’s management and the activities of the ASEAN Information and Communications Steering Committee.

It will also introduce ASEAN member states and serve as an archive for the bloc.

VN’s 10 key export items listed

The export value of phones and accessories ranked first among Viet Nam’s export items in the reviewed period with US$20.18 billion, up 32.6%.

In August only, the nation gained US$3.02 billion from exporting phones and accessories, up 19.1% against the previous month.

The exports of garment ranked second with US$14.9% in eight months, up 9.9%, US$7.34 billion of which was earned from the U.S. market.

The export turnover of computers, electronics and spare parts obtained US$9.99 billion over the recent eight months, up 53.5%, ranking third among Viet Nam’s export items. The nation gained US$1.97 billion from exporting the items to the EU.

Clip “Welcome to VN” promotes tourism

Clip “Welcome to Viet Nam” introduces a peaceful, sustainable, developing, long-term cultural and high-contained humanity Viet Nam to foreigners through movies and images.

The clip shows images on Viet Nam’s beauty sightseeing places, regional cultural characteristics and achievements after 30 years of renovation.

With nine languages (Vietnamese, English, French, Chinese, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese and Arabian), the clip has received contributions from a number of cinematographers and writers nationwide.

CPI in HN slightly decreases in September

Ha Noi’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) in September decreased 0.1% against August and up 0.34% compared to the same period last year, according to the city’s Statistics Office.

The city’s CPI in nine months witnessed a year-on-year increase of 0.71%.

Ha Noi’s Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in nine months increased 8.3% against the same period last year, higher than the same period of 2013 (up 7.88%) and 2014 (7.9%).
