Gov’t supports anti-corruption cooperation with Russia

The Government of Viet Nam always supports cooperation between the Vietnamese Government Inspectorate and Russia’s Presidential Counter-Corruption Directorate, said PM Nguyen Tan Dung while receiving Head of the Directorate Plokhoi Oleg Anatolyevich.

PM Dung welcomed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on anti-corruption between the two agencies earlier on the same day.

Mr. Plokhoi Oleg Anatolyevich affirmed that his agency will coordinate closely with the Vietnamese Government Inspectorate to fruitfully realize the agreements reached by both sides.

PM Nguyen Tan Dung meets Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong

PM Nguyen Tan Dung has hoped that Viet Nam and Singapore will promote their relations in all areas whilst showing his delight that both share the same view on building an ASEAN Community and the East Sea issue at his meeting with Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong of Singapore.

Former PM Goh Chok Tong suggested the two countries speed up cooperation in the banking sector to enable Vietnam to mobilise capital from international investment funds in Singapore for its infrastructure development.

Trade Capacity Enhancement Project launched

The Viet Nam Association of Foreign-Invested Enterprises cooperated with the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Association in the South to launch the Trade Capacity Enhancement Project (TRACE II) in Viet Nam.

The project, invested with €525,000, of which €472,000 is sponsored by the EU, aims to accelerate integration of the nation in the international trade system and enhance the trade relations between Viet Nam and the EU as well as optimizing benefits for economic development and poverty reduction.

HCMC’s CPI up 1.13% in September

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Ho Chi Minh City increased 1.13% and 3.16% compared to the previous month and the same period last year.

The education service faced a rise of 19.02%, highest among 11 commodities and services, due to the increase in the education fees in the 2014-2015 academic year.

Peppercorn exports exceed US$1 bln

As many as 3,556 tons of peppercorns were exported in the first fifteen days of September, worth US$34.081 million.

As of September 15, Viet Nam exported 136,000 tons of peppercorns, gaining US$1.022 billion. The US, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands and India are the largest peppercorn importers of Viet Nam.

Japan helps in source water treatment

The Halvo Co., Ltd from the Japanese prefecture of Kagoshima has been implementing a project on source water treatment at 29 localities in central Ha Tinh and southern Vinh Long provinces.

In April, the company invested ¥100 million (US$1 million) in building a water treatment factory in Long An province’s Phuc Long industrial zone. At present, the factory, which aims to produce materials for water treatment, has been put into operation.

Indonesia imports 200,000 tons of rice from VN

Indonesia’s State Logistics Agency (Bulog) signed a contract with the Viet Nam Food Association (VFA) to purchase 200,000 tons of Vietnamese rice.

Indonesia is the fourth largest Southeast Asian trade partner of Viet Nam. Last year, trade increased by 4.8% and totaled over US$4.8 billion. During the first eight months of this year, the respective figures were 13.4%, and US$3.3 billion.
