Prominent young policemen honored

VGP - The Ministry of Public Security held a ceremony on August 17 in Hà Nội to honor 34 prominent young policemen who have devoted their life to safeguarding the people’s life as taught by President Hồ Chí Minh.

The ceremony, attended by Politburo member and Minister of Public Security Trần Đại Quang, is one of activities to mark the 66th founding anniversary of the People’s Police Force Day (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2011) and the 6th founding anniversary of the All People Defending the Fatherland’s Security.

Of the honored, 9 have been awarded Feats of Arms Medals by the State President for making special exploits, 1 has been awarded the Fatherland Protection Medal, 16 have received the certificates of merit from the Prime Minister.

Also honored in this ceremony was Lieutenant Lê Thanh Tâm, who laid down his life chasing armed robbers. He was awarded the Bravery Medal by the State President.

Việt Nam currently has 150,000 young policemen. Last year, 35,000 police officers and young policemen volunteered to work in disadvantaged areas.
