Public Security Minister Holds Talks With Russian Secretary Of Security Council

VGP – Minister of Public Security To Lam on March 16 held talks with Secretary of the Security Council of Russia Nikolai Platonovich as part of Platonovich’s three-day visit to Viet Nam.

During the talks, both sides expressed delight on the Viet Nam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership which has been promoted more intensively, effectively and practically, expecting that the bilateral relationship, especially in spheres of economics, trade, investment, science and technology will be strengthened in the upcoming time. 

Viet Nam hopes to enhance cooperation with the Russian Federation on ensuring security amidst complex development of Covid-19 as well as receive more assistance from the Russian side in fields of the pandemic prevention and vaccine development to soon recover trade relations and people-to-people exchange activities, Lam asserted.

Regarding crime prevention and control, on the basis of the Joint Action Program signed for the period of 2019-2021, the two sides have exchanged information, shared experience and joined hands in investigating and extradition as well as boosted cooperation in fighting all kinds of crimes, including high-tech, drug and human trafficking crimes. 

They discussed international and regional issues of mutual concerns with a view to building cooperative mechanisms and initiatives which are crucial to each side’s national security, cooperating in guaranteeing security and safety for Vietnamese and Russian citizens living overseas and   developing security industry for Viet Nam. 

Lam and Platonovich witnessed the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Public Security and the Investigative Committee of Russia.

During the meeting with Chief of the General Staff of the Viet Nam People’s Army and Deputy Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang on the same day, Platonovich said that national defense-security cooperation is regarded as one of the important pillars in the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership, contributing to peace and stability in Asia-Pacific.

He expressed his belief that the bilateral long-standing friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership will be further deepened in the near future and gain achievements, especially in national defense in line with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Vietnamese and Russian defense ministries in 2013.
