PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc made the point while concluding a conference with the business circle on December 23 in Ha Noi.

So far, the local competitiveness environment has been improved remarkably with over 800,000 enterprises. However, the figure remains modest as the percentage of enterprises per population scale was low (with 120 people per one enterprise in Viet Nam; with 90 persons per one enterprise in ASEAN; and 10 persons per one enterprise in developed country).

So far, only seven Vietnamese enterprises were listed in Top 200 Asian best enterprises with less than US$ 1 billion revenue. So far, Viet Nam has yet had any enterprise which is named in World’s Top 500 list.

After the conference, PM Phuc tasked the Ministry of Planning and Investment to work with the Office of the Government and relevant agencies to craft a resolution on business development orientations.

Each ministry and sector will be responsible for composing action plans to support the business community in 2020 with a vision towards 2025.

PM Phuc noticed the necessity to perfect the business environment especially weaknesses raised by the UNDP, WB, and experts at the conference; cut conditional business lines; streamline regulations on business conditions; review and perfect procedures on investment, land, construction, and environment.

The Government chief asked civil servants to put an end the use of soft power to scare enterprises and listen to business comments. State agencies were urged to dismiss staff who harassed enterprises.

Shaking hands to reach out to sea

PM Phuc took the occasion to call upon the business community to raise sense of solidarity; uphold the spirit of patriotism; cooperate to reach out to sea.

The business community was asked to raise competitiveness; build product brands; apply state-of-art technologies; make full use of the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0), and FTAs.

Enterprises were noticed to obey the laws; comply with tax payment regulations and obliged financial tasks; pay insurance for their employees; protect the environment; preserve brand names and national reputation.

Vietnamese enterprises should take the lead in the fight against corruption and early disclose corruption cases, said PM Phuc.

Regarding the Government, PM Phuc pledged to consolidate the macro-economic stability; reform the legal system, policies, and regulations to facilitate business operation; empower the private sector to engage in public services; and protect legitimate property rights./.
