Quang Nam Heritage Festival opens

VGP - The 5th Quang Nam Heritage Festival opened in Hoi An ancient town in the central province of Quang Nam on June 22.

such as meetings between localities and the diplomatic corps, the Tam Thanh Maritime Tourism Festival, and a workshop to promote cultural heritage’s value in tourism development.

It will also be highlighted by the final round of the Miss Ethnic Viet Nam Pageant, an international choir contest, an exhibition on cultural heritage space of Viet Nam and ASEAN, and a forum on Quang Nam province’s green growth.

The festival manifests the honor to heritage values in Viet Nam and the region, and creates an opportunity for localities, where heritages are located, to exchange experience in heritage value preservation and promotion and introduce intangible cultural beauties to international friends.

The opening ceremony was attended by Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Lao Deputy PM Somsavad Lengsavath, UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova, and representatives from embassies, consulates, and international organizations in Viet Nam.

Deputy Prime Minister Phuc stressed that cultural heritages are results of creativity in human kind’s history. Heritage value preservation and promotion is the responsibility of the whole society.

He hoped that through the festival, Viet Nam and ASEAN will have a common voice in preserving and promoting heritage values.

Viet Nam commits to implementing the UNESCO Convention on Safeguarding the Intangible Cultural Heritage and popularizing the Convention’s content, said Deputy PM Phuc./.
