Secretary of the Quảng Ninh Provincial Party Committee Phạm Minh Chính revealed the news at the Investment Promotion Conference 2012 which is taking place in Hạ Long City from Feb. 23-25.

The locality’s biggest projects calling for investment include infrastructure development project for Hải Hà Industrial and Seaport Zone (with total investment capital of over US $3 billion) and Vân Đồn International Airport (with total investment capital of US $1.2 billion).

At the three-day conference, policy makers, investors and experts frankly exchanged views on Quảng Ninh’s socio-economic development policies.

They also proposed measures for the locality to take full advantage of opportunities brought back by globalization process.

According to Mr. Alexander Feldman, President of the US-ASEAN Business Council, sufficient information on investment projects would help the locality and investors to share opportunities and prosper together.

On the occasion, province’s leaders also granted investment licenses to three projects with total capital of over US $260 million.

Quảng Ninh has attained comprehensive growth in the 2006 – 2010 period. The local economy expands 12.7% annually. Industry and service sectors account for 94% of the locality’s GDP. In 2011, GDP per capita reached over US $2,200.
