Regional Planning Appraisal Council set up

VGP – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has decided to set up a Regional Planning Appraisal Council led by Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung.

The council is responsible for organizing appraisal of regional planning schemes for the 2021-2030, vision to 2050 in line with planning legislation.

Members of the Council include representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of National Defense, Government Office, Ministry of Planning and Investment, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry of Labor-Invalids and Social Affairs, Ministry of Information and Communications, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Education and Training, Ministry of Health, and Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment shall be the permanent body of the Council.

According to the current Law on Planning, independence between planning authority and planning appraisal council must be ensured.

Regional planning means the planning that is aimed at realizing the national comprehensive planning at regional level in terms of spaces used for socio-economic, national defense and security activities, urban system and rural population distribution, development of inter-provincial regions, infrastructure, water resources of river basins, use of national resources and environmental protection on the basis of provincial interconnection./.
