The first Republic of Korea - Viet Nam Strategic Dialogue themed “RoK-Viet Nam relations: Deepening the strategic cooperative partnership” takes place, Ha Noi, July 8, 2020.

The event was jointly organized by the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam, RoK’s Embassy in Viet Nam and the Korea Foundation in the context that two nations’ relationship has been promoted and expanded in all spheres of trade-investment, culture, tourism, people-to-people exchange and cooperation at multilateral forums.

Korean Ambassador to Viet Nam Park Noh Wan asserted that his country gives high priority to relations with ASEAN, including Viet Nam, in its New Southern Policy.

He highlighted the importance of the event as creating an opportunity for both sides to exchange measures to promote partnership amid new challenges in the world and region, particularly impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and strategic competitiveness between big nations.

The two nations need to strengthen the bilateral relationship, focusing on supporting enterprises, resuming people-to-people exchanges and joining hands in coping with the epidemic, suggested the diplomat.

Delegates at the event reviewed outcomes of the cooperation between the two nations over the recent 28 years, opportunities and challenges for their relations and economic development trends during the COVID-19 period.

They also discussed and proposed recommendations to enhance the RoK-Viet Nam strategic cooperative partnership as well as cooperation at multilateral mechanisms in the upcoming time./.
