The seminar "Renovation and development of vocational training in Việt Nam", Phú Yên Province, June 22, 2011

Speaking at the seminar, Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyễn Ngọc Phi addressed various issues on human resources quality, stressing on the need to improve the quality of training equipment and trainers as well, and asking for the creation of more practice-oriented curricula and entrepreneurial involvement in vocational training.

Educational managers and experts to the event suggested diversification of vocational training types and broader social involvement and international cooperation in the field.

Participants consented that mechanisms and policies should help enable enterprise to become an important subject of vocational training.

Drastic reforms in vocational training have become requirements for Việt Nam to meet labor quality goals detailed by the socio-economic development Strategy for 2011-2020.

The strategy figures out education as one of the three breakthroughs of Việt Nam in coming decades.

It is estimated that the country would have 60 million laborers by 2020. At present, Việt Nam has hundreds of vocational training establishments but the quality of workforce is still low.
