VNGOP – The PM on November 12 permitted to extend the credit loan Cr.3532-VN granted by the International Development Association (IDA) for the Project "Community-based Rural Infrastructure" to June 30, 2009.

November 12, 2007 5:12 PM GMT+7

The PM asked the Ministry of Finance to complete the Project’s IDA capital drawing registration and necessary procedures at the State bank in order to accelerate the disbursement of IDA capital before June 30, 2009.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment was entrusted to closely monitor and supervise all activities under the Project as well as allocate the remaining IDA capital.

It was reported that the Project was started in 2002 to facilitate poverty reduction in the poorest communes in 13 central and southeastern provinces (Thanh Hóa, Nghệ An, Hà Tĩnh, Thừa Thiên-Huế, Quảng Nam, Quảng Ngãi, Bình Định, Phú Yên, Khánh Hòa, Bình Thuận, Ninh Thuận, Lâm Đồng and Bình Phước).

The Project was aimed at increasing the ability of these localities in making plans and managing community-based development activities, building up primary infrastructure works and engaging the poor in small-scale rural infrastructure projects to get income.
