State President: VN treasures ties with Iran

VGP – State President Truong Tan Sang today held talks with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who is on an official visit to Viet Nam.

Welcoming the Iranian leader, President Sang described his trip as a new impetus for the development of bilateral relationship between the two countries.

He affirmed Viet Nam’s consistent diplomatic policy to maintain friendship and partnership with all countries while attaching importance to traditional friends like Iran.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad showed his admiration to Viet Nam’s cause of national salvation in the past and great achievements gained in national construction and development.

The two leaders expressed their pleasure at the multifaceted cooperation between the two countries and underlined their determination to enhance and promote this relationship in the time to come, focusing on trade, agriculture, aquaculture, culture, sports and tourism.

They also spent time to exchange views on regional and international issues of common concern.
