During the meeting, the two leaders agreed on measures to strengthen the two countries’ economic and trade ties, by actively assisting import-export activities, soon negotiating and signing a free trade agreement between Viet Nam and the Belarus-Kazakhstan-Russia Customs Union, and reaching more agreements to create a legal basis for economic and trade cooperation.
After the meeting, the State President and the host PM attended the Viet Nam-Kazakhstan Business Forum and the launching ceremony for the Viet Nam-Kazakhstan Business Council.
At the forum, Kazakh entrepreneurs said they will discuss with Vietnamese partners cooperation opportunities in garment, textile and infrastructure fields.
State President Truong Tan Sang affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State are ready to create favorable conditions for Kazakh firms to operate productively in Viet Nam, and encourage Vietnamese enterprises to expand cooperation with Kazakh partners.
On the same day, the State President received executives from Kazakh firms, who expressed their hopes that following this visit, many contracts between Vietnamese and Kazakh enterprises will be signed.
Oil and gas cooperation boosted
State President Truong Tan Sang visited and had a working session with executives from KazMunaiGaz, a leading oil and gas group of Kazakhstan.
He appreciated the firm’s role in boosting energy cooperation, especially oil and gas cooperation between Viet Nam and Kazakhstan. PetroVietnam and KazMunaiGaz have signed a deal to joint research the Usturt region, and are considering the implementation of some oil and gas projects in Kazakhstan.
On the occasion, representatives of PetroVietnam and KazMunaiGaz signed a memorandum of understanding stating possibilities for the two sides to soon negotiate oil and gas contracts.
Later on the day, State President Truong Tan Sang left Astana for Ha Noi, successfully concluding his state visit to Kazakhstan.
