The State leader made that statement at his reception for Managing Director (MD) of the IMF Christine Lagarde on November 10 in Da Nang City on the sidelines of the ongoing APEC Economic Leaders' Week.

At the meeting, Mr. Quang announced Viet Nam’s achievements in socio-economic development in 2017, affirming that the nation consistently stabilizes the macro-economy in line with enhancing economic growth, restructuring economy, and renewing development model.

Viet Nam will make drastic changes to meet demands for intensive international integration and improve growth quality, he added.

Ms. Christine Lagarde committed to supporting Viet Nam to stabilize the macro-economy and promote sustainable and inclusive growth.

She highly appraised Viet Nam’s efforts in organizing APEC 2017 and initiatives proposed and realized by APEC members in fields of trade facilitation and restructure, human resource development, digital economic development, global supply chain and assistance for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Earlier on November 9,    State President Tran Dai Quang hosted a reception for the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) President Jin Liqun.

President Quang welcomed Jin’s active participation in the APEC CEO Summit while hailing AIIB’s performance over almost two years since its inception.

He affirmed that Viet Nam will continue engaging in AIIB as a reliable and responsible partner by fulfilling all obligations of a member country, and also hope for more assistance from the lender.

The country has demand for capital for infrastructure development and upgrade, and AIIB is one of the potential capital sources, State President Quang said, asking the bank to work with relevant agencies of Viet Nam to specify suitable funding mechanisms and methods.

AIIB President Jin said President Quang’s impressive speech at the APEC CEO Summit inspired businesses to increase investment and business activities in Viet Nam. He also highly valued Viet Nam’s active contribution to his bank’s foundation and activities.

As Viet Nam boasts huge development potential, infrastructure investment for socio-economic development is still an important strategy of the country. AIIB pledges to help the country access its capital sources to meet this demand, he added.
