Speaking to reporters at the airport, President Nguyễn Minh Triết expressed his pleasure to visit Cuba, a close friend of Việt Nam, and his pride in the good relationship between the two countries.
The Vietnamese President said that during his tour to Cuba, the leaders will discuss measures to cement and deepen the friendship and multifaceted cooperation, especially in the fields of their advantages, such as transport, biotechnology, education and health.

The same day, President Nguyễn Minh Triết paid a visit to the Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba. He asked Việt Nam’s representative agencies to spare no effort to promote the relations with Cuba.

Việt Nam and Cuba established the diplomatic ties 49 years ago. Cuba took the lead in the international movement to support Việt Nam’s struggle for national independence and freedom.

On September 27 (local time), State President Triết laid wreaths at Jose Marti Monument and Hồ Chí Minh Monument in La Havana. He also visited Heroine Melba Hernandez.
