State management boosted over natural resources and environment

VNGOVNet – To assess and improve the State management over natural resources and environment, a nationwide conference was convened on February 27 in Hanoi, with the attendance of over 200 delegates who are the People’s Committee Chairpersons, Vice Chairpersons and Directors of the Services of Resources and Environment, Finance of all 64 centrally-administered cities and provinces throughout Vietnam.

The two-day conference focused on assessing the State management over resources and environment in the period of 2003–2006, discovering improper and burning issues in the State management over soil, water, minerals, environmental protection as well as shortcomings in the apparatus in charge of resource and environment management at all echelons; suggesting solutions to deal with those difficulties and shortcomings.

Over the past time, the resource and environment management at central and local levels has been greatly improved, contributing to the country’s socio-economic development. Under the management of local authorities, natural resources, soil and minerals have been allocated and used more and more soundly.

Attending and addressing the conference, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng said, immediately, the most important task is to re-check and complete laws and policies on resources and land to make the use of natural resources and soil effective. According to the PM, it is necessary to continue fixing land prices in line with the market regime and under the State management, so making the land and house markets transparent and healthy.  

The PM stressed the training and qualifying the local officers in charge of land survey, especially at communal and ward levels. He urged to minimize administrative red tapes and procedures troubling people and enterprises as well as prevent corruption in the field of land.
