Swiss, Vietnamese leaders meet

Vice President Trương Mỹ Hoa encounters her Swiss counterpart Pascal Couchepin

Swiss Vice President Pascal Couchepin pledged continued cooperation with Vietnam in all areas and stated his administration's desire to support Vietnam’s bid for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2008-2009 term.

On the same day, as a part of her visit to Switzerland, Vice State President Trương Mỹ Hoa met Swiss Minister of Economic Affairs Doris Leuthard, President of the National Council Chirstine Egerszegi Obrist, and President of the Council of States Peter Bieri.

During these meetings and talks, Vice President Trương Mỹ Hoa highly spoke of the Swiss Government's policies and solutions to encourage their investors' entry in Vietnam. She emphasized the need to ratchet up cooperation between the Vietnamese and Swiss legislative bodies in order to consolidate long-term ties between the two countries..

The Swiss leaders told that their government would continue to aid Vietnam's efforts in building a sustainable economy and fulfilling the Southeast Asian country's Millennium Development Goals through their official development assistance (ODA) programs.
