Each scholarship, worth of some VND 1.7 million, can cover textbooks, pens, notebooks, cloth for making pupils’ uniform, and 10 kg of rice a month during the 9-month school year.

The foundation plans to award 450 similar scholarships in the southern province of Vĩnh Long next week.

It will also fund VND 570 million for the construction of a kindergarten in the district of Trà Ôn.

After two years of running an office in Việt Nam, the Dariu Foundation has provided micro-finance services to 10,000 low-income women in rural and mountainous areas in Đồng Nai and Vĩnh Long Provinces with the total outstanding credit of VND 15 billion.
