Top leader: Viet Nam always treasures special ties with Cuba

Party General Secretary, State President Nguyen Phu Trong made the above statement during his phone conversation with First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee Raul Castro on December 2.

During the phone talks, the two leaders discussed measures to promote bilateral ties as the two nations are celebrating the 60^th founding anniversary of their diplomatic ties (December 2, 2020).

Raul Castro stressed that the close fraternal friendship between the two Parties, States and peoples, founded by President Ho Chi Minh and Leader Fidel Castro and nurtured by generations of leaders and people of Viet Nam and Cuba, will always remain as the exemplary relationship in the contemporary world.

He affirmed that the Cuban Party, State and people will spare no effort to preserve, protect and transfer to future generations this special relationship.

Raul Castro extended congratulations on Viet Nam’s achievements in the renewal process and successful management of the Covid-19 pandemic, expressing sympathy to the Southeast Asian country for the losses caused by recent natural disasters.

The Cuban leader expressed his belief that the Communist Party of Viet Nam will continue fruitful realization of the 12^th National Party Congress’ resolutions and successfully organize the 13the National Party Congress.

He briefed Trong about recent developments in Cuba and its preparations for the organization of the 8^th National Party Congress scheduled to take place in April next year.

Trong emphasized that the special friendship between the two Parties and nations, founded by President Ho Chi Minh and Leader Fidel Castro, is a valuable asset and becomes a symbol of the era.

He affirmed that the Vietnamese Party, State and people will always bear in mind the historical words: “For Viet Nam, Cuba is willing to shed its blood”.

He affirmed that Viet Nam is willing to stand side by side with Cuba during its process of updating the Cuban Social and Economic Model and work together with Cuba to maintain and advance the bilateral trade, economic and investment ties, especially in food supply and food production cooperation in Cuba.
