Top leader calls on Party members to stay aloof from material temptations

VGP – Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong urged each member of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee (CPVCC) and each Party member to stay aloof from material temptations in order to avoid causing unforeseen consequences.

Trong reiterated the point in his remarks at the closing ceremony of the CPVCC’s 11th Plenum that wrapped up on Saturday.

Since the beginning of the 12th National Party Congress, more than 70 high-ranking officials have been disciplined, including one Politburo member, four CPVCC members, 14 former CPVCC members, one former Deputy Prime Minister, five Ministers and former Ministers, two Secretaries of Provincial Party Committee, five former Secretaries of Provincial Party Committee, according to Party chief Trong.

The Politburo and Secretariat have also taken disciplinary measures against seven Party organizations, including those of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Ministry of Information and Communications, Ministry of Transport, Da Nang city, and Vinh Phuc province.

70 high-ranking officials disciplined since the beginning of the 12th CPVCC include on Politburo member, one Deputy Prime Minister, and five Ministers and former Ministers. 

Trong stressed that any individuals committing to violations shall be strictly punished, from top down, in order to maintain the Party’s disciplines and regulations and consolidate public trust.

During the six-day sitting, the 12th CPVCC deliberated on documents which will be submitted to the 13th National Party Congress, review socio-economic and state budget performance in 2019-2020, and discuss other key issues.

The documents brought to discussion include draft political report, draft report on the 10-year implementation of the 2011 Platform, draft report on implementation of the socio-economic development strategy for 2011-2020, draft socio-economic development strategy for 2021-2030, draft report on five-year implementation of Party building and execution of the Party Statues.

The participants elected four more members to the CPVCC Inspection Commission while considering and deciding to expel Nguyen Bac Son, and Truong Minh Tuan from the Party.

Son was former member of the 10th CPVCC and former deputy head of the CPVCC Commission for Information and Ecuation and Tuan was 12th CPVCC member, deputy head of the CPVCC Commission for Information and Education, former Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Information and Communications and former Minister of Information and Communications./.
