In their receptions to the guest, Viet Nam’s top leaders expressed their pleasure at the blossoming relationship and cooperation between the two countries.

They described the Panamanian President’s first working visit to Viet Nam as an important landmark and driving force to further push up the bilateral friendship and multifaceted cooperation.

The host leaders expected that the Panamanian Government will encourage and support investors of the two countries to do business in various fields, especially construction, shipbuilding and repairing, and export. Trade, agriculture, science and technology, culture and public health are also the prioritized fields of bilateral cooperation, they suggested.

For his part, President Ricardo Martinelli praised the increasing prestige and position of Viet Nam, affirming that Panama is willing to strengthen its relations with Viet Nam in all suggested fields as well as others like tourism, finance, and fighting against transnational crimes.

With its geographical advantages, Panama is ready to be a bridge for Vietnamese export to enter Latin America, emphasized the President.

He asked Viet Nam to share its experience in rice and coffee cultivation as well as Vietnamese investors to join the projects on developing the Panama Canal.

During their meetings, the Vietnamese and Panamanian leaders also agreed to boost up the exchanges between the ruling parties, national assemblies, and peoples of the two countries.

They also reached consensus on supporting each other on multilateral forums like the UN, the NAM, and the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC).

On this occasion, the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs signed the Cultural Cooperation Agreement and the Memorandum of Understanding on establishing a political consultation mechanism.
