Tougher penalties for tourist infringements

VGP – Since April 30, administrative infringements in the field of tourism will get heavy punishments, including a fine that may be up to VND 40 million.

This is part of the Government’s Decree 16/2012/NĐ-CP dated March 13 on administrative penalty on tourism violations.

The heaviest penalty of VND 30-40 million will be applied to organizations or individuals providing international travel services in Việt Nam without licenses.

Under the Decree, tour guides will be fined from VND500,000 to VND1,000,000 if they do not wear tour guide cards.

The penalty rate of VND 5-10 million will be applied to tour guides who operate without tour guide licenses; use illegal tour guide cards; introduce wrong information about morals, habits, customs, culture, country and people of Việt Nam.

Infringements in terms of quality of tourist products, parking, transport, bars and restaurant will be fined VND 5-7 million./.
