Training courses opened for press officers

VGP – A training course on press and communication for senior officials of ministries, agencies, localities and State-owned corporations was launched in Hà Nội on Monday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and German media groups Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung (WAZ) and Deutsche Welle.

The course is scheduled to take place in Hà Nội on September 17-19 and Hồ Chí Minh City on September 21-23.

The objective is to provide attendees knowledge of modern journalism and skills of setting up relations between the State agencies and domestic/international mass media, designing press communiqués, organizing press briefings and other communication programs.

Lecturers include senior experts in journalism and communication from Việt Nam and Germany like former Deputy PM Vũ Khoan, former Deputy FM Lê Bàng, PhD Srgjan Kerim, General Director of the WAZ’s Media Group for Southeastern Europe.

The training course for press officers launched in Hà Nội on September 14 2009 is the first cooperation program between the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry and German mass media

Speaking at the event, Deputy PM, FM Phạm Gia Khiêm said that the course would help considerably improve the capacity of the Vietnamese officials in charge of journalism and communication.

They must be well trained in terms of foreign languages and journalism skills to serve the information work in the context of the country’s active and deep integration into the world community.
