The five deaths included three in Thanh Hoa, one in Bac Kan, and one in Dien Bien. The 13 missing persons came from Thanh Hoa (12) and Dien Bien (1).

So far, water levels in the Thao, Buoi, and Ma rivers reached their peak and gradually declined.

Storm Wipha is the third tropical storm to have hit Viet Nam so fat this year, causing heavy damage to assets and public transport routes.

Some 100 houses, mostly in Thanh Hoa and Lang Son provinces, were smashed, and nearly 200 others have been damaged.

Meanwhile, landslides and floods caused blockages in many roads in Thanh Hoa, Dien Bien and Son La provinces, cutting off traffics./.
